Viking Safety Ambassadors (VSA)

Three students, wearing Green Viking Safety Ambassador vests are walking towards the Student Center near Longship Food Truck

Viking Safety Ambassadors play a vital role in fostering a safe, welcoming and supportive campus environment for all ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø students.

VSA Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform proactive foot patrols between the hours of 2:00 PM - 2:00 AM to promote campus safety and deter concerning behavior
  • Support students by being approachable, supportive and informed about our campus, campus policies and services offered
  • Respond to and/or report minor incidents promptly, following University protocols
  • Assist with community development, including engaging on-campus residents through positive interactions
  • Provide safety escorts as needed to ensure community members feel safe on campus. Community members can request a safety escort by calling 216-687-2020 or by using the RAVE Guardian app
  • Viking Safety Ambassadors are trained on customer service skills, University policies and protocol, police communication protocol, and emergency response

The VSA program is a partnership between the Office of Community Standards and Compliance and the ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø Police Department, which is generously funded by Viking Watch grants from the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
